MAKE A GIFT

Donating to Chi Phi through Cornell University

Alumni and friends of Chi Phi have a unique opportunity to have their donations to the fraternity be tax-deductible as well as having these donations count toward their overall giving to Cornell University.

In order to ensure that your gift to Chi Phi is tax-deductible and counted toward your overall Cornell giving, simply designate the Chi Phi Renovation and Repair Fund when making your donations to Cornell. By allocating your gift to Chi Phi, both Cornell and Chi Phi are credited with the full amount of the donation. You receive full credit and recognition for your gift with Cornell including the various giving societies such as the Tower Club and Quadrangle Club. And if you are giving in conjunction with reunion, your gift receives full class credit as well. You can allocate your Cornell gift to Chi Phi by visiting the Cornell Alumni Giving Website [click link].

Instructions

* In the field labeled: "I want to designate my gift to," choose "Cornell University."
* In the next field, "to support," select "Cornell Fund."
* For the third field, "other gift designation," enter "Chi Phi Renovation and Repair Fund #171000" in the space provided

Or, if you prefer to give by mail, simply enter "Chi Phi Renovation and Repair Fund #171000" on your check and on the pledge form. This allocation can also be requested in bequests or wills.

The value of your gift may be doubled through matching gift programs available through thousands of employers. The process is simple. Just enter the name of your employer from the list provided at the website linked above. If you prefer to give by mail, just enter your company's name in the space provided on the Cornell pledge card. Cornell does the rest! And both you and your employer receive credit for supporting Cornell University.

Gifts credited to the Chi Phi Renovation and Repair Fund are used to fund major renovations and capital improvements to Craigielea. Decisions to use the funds from the Chi Phi Renovation and Repair Fund are made with the joint approval of the leadership of the Chi Phi alumni board, the active brothers, and Cornell's Department of Residence Life. These funds are separate from the funds raised through alumni dues, which are used to finance alumni activities including this website and The Chi Phi Connections newsletter.

The importance of building an adequate fund to make needed renovations to Craigielea cannot be over emphasized. Craigielea has been a source of pride for our brotherhood for 114 years. Although the house's basic physical condition is sound and capable of serving our fraternity for decades to come, its age necessitates ongoing renovations and improvements to maintain the appearance, safety, and operating efficiency of the facility. We must also maintain a chapter house that is conducive to the academic and social needs of the chapter as campus life evolves.

Chi Phi alumni and friends have a unique opportunity to help Cornell and Chi Phi with the same donation. We urge you to remember and utilize this information and to request Chi Phi Renovation and Repair Fund credit when they make their gifts to Cornell.

Annual Alumni Dues:

The money from alumni dues goes directly to Chi Phi Craigielea and is administered entirely at the discretion of the Alumni Board. Although not eligible for corporate matching or tax deductibility, alumni dues give the Alumni Board some additional flexibility in allocating resources independently from Cornell. These funds are primarily used for maintaining this website, creating and mailing the Chi Phi Connections, financing alumni mailings, building the Alumni Career Network, and hosting events during Homecoming and Reunion. Additional dues contributions above and beyond the levels listed are always welcome.

Gift Amounts:

You may donate as little as $5. Givers will be honored in various categories of: under $25, $25 and up, $50 and up, $100 and up, $250 and up, $500 and up, and $1,000 and up.

You can also pay by by mail, using the printable gift card. Mail completed gift cards to Alumni Association of Chi Phi Fraternity, P.O. Box 876, Ithaca, NY 14851-0876. Please make checks payable to "Cornell University" and reference Chi Phi Renovation and Repair Fund (#171000) on your check.
